fundraiser help?
on: May 7, 2010, 21:27

My local vet is a life saver -literally. When we couldn’t afford to have our cat’s mangled leg amputated, we were facing the sad fact that he would have to be put down. But because of our vet’s generosity and their donation fund, Zephyr got the surgery he needed at no cost to us. In return, I’d love to hold a local fundraiser to give back to the clinic’s emergency fund so others who might be in our situation can get the help they need. My question is – are there any legal ramifications to holding a local fundraiser for this sort of thing? My teenage daughter and friends want to help by holding a carwash. I don’t know where to start. Do I need a permit? Do I need to register with a charity? Is there a right way or wrong way to do this?

Thanks,

Liana

We are a family of 8, soon to be 9 with two schnauzers and one crazy kitty.
